Description

Cafu, one of the greatest names in football, started at São Paulo in 1989, after facing numerous unsuccessful trials. In 1992, he enjoyed his breakthrough year. Playing almost as a right winger, he was a key player in the Copa Libertadores, exploiting his speed to create space on the wing. In the Paulista final against Palmeiras, he shone with a goal and two assists in a 4-2 victory.

In the Copa Libertadores final, he helped the Tricolor defeat Newell's Old Boys. Months later, in the Club World Cup in Japan, he was essential against FC Barcelona. Under Telê Santana's command, his tireless runs took São Paulo to the top of the world.
